The first look at Todd Haynes’ Wonderstruck is here and it’s beautiful. As two boys (Oakes Fegley and Jaden Michael) run through the New York Museum of Natural History (1977 and in color), we cut back to 50 years ago with Millicent Simmonds perusing the same museum. With gorgeous cinematography by Haynes stalwarts Ed Lachman and music by Carter Burwell, it’s a wonderfully immersive and touching dialogue-free two minutes. The clip first debuted on Deadline.
Wonderstruck hits the Cannes Film Festival in just 6 days. The film is based on Brian Selznick’s 2011 novel of the same name, the film co-stars Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams. Roadside Attractions and Amazon Studios will release Wonderstruck in theaters on October 20th.
