First look: The teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’

Today, Director/Writer J.J. Abrams and Producer Kathleen Kennedy were joined by stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Naomi Ackie, Joonas Suotamo and Anthony Daniels, and droids BB-8 and D-0, for a panel discussion at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, moderated by Stephen Colbert.

The biggest news was the title of the final installment of the Skywalker saga was finally revealed, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, along with the first trailer for the film a brand-new teaser poster.

This first teaser gives us a kick ass leap from Daisy Ridley’s Rey, our final look at Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia as well as glimpses of the return of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, and the evil and sinister laugh of none other than Ian McDiarmid’s General Palpatine.

Disney will open Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in U.S. theaters on December 20th.
