Darren Aronofsky’s mother! has been the most secretive and one of the most anticipated films of the year. We hadn’t even had so much as a production still until the poster was unveiled last month and now the official teaser for the psychological (supernatural?) thriller that’s set for the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals.
The film stars Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as a couple whose lives are interrupted by people (Oscar nominees Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer), and possibly forces, unknown to them. Between elements of fire and locusts, there seems to also be a biblical element to the story (coupled with Pfeiffer’s ominous “God help you…”). Paramount Pictures had originally slated the film for an October 13th bow but moved it up a full month (to September 15th), just a week after its festival debuts.
Here is the teaser. The full trailer arrives on August 8th.
