Selma earns seven nominations from the Georgia Film Critics Association, including David Oyelowo (above, center)

The Georgia Film Critics Association have only been around since 2011 and this year they loved Selma, giving it seven nominations (including a Breakthrough of the Year mention for its director, Ava DuVernay). Birdman also snagged seven nominations but curiously missed out on Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Boyhood hit seven nominations and Gone Girl performed well, with six. In a truly inspired choice,  Lisa Loven Kongsli from Force Majeure received a Best Actress nomination. It’s one of the more esoteric and original nominations from any critics organization this year. Winners will be revealed January 9th.
