‘God’s Own Country,’ ‘Lady Macbeth,’ ‘Get Out’ big winners at British Independent Film Awards (BIFA)
God’s Own Country and Lady Macbeth were big winners last night at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) where God’s Own Country won the top award, Best British Independent Film, plus Best Actor for Josh O’Connor and Lady Macbeth won Best Actress for Florence Pugh and Best Screenplay.
Other multiple winners included I Am Not a Witch, which earned two directing wins, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (for editing and music) and The Death of Stalin (Supporting Actor, Production Design, Casting and Makeup & Hair).
For Best International Independent Film, two Best Picture Oscar hopefuls were nominated – The Florida Project and Get Out. Get Out triumphed here. Last year, Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea made this cut with Moonlight winning.
