Greater Western New York Critics go for ‘Pig,’ ‘The Power of the Dog’ and ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’
The Greater Western New York Film Critics Association (GWNYFCA) announced their winners today and Michael Sarnoski’s debut feature Pig took the top prize, Best Picture, along with a win for Sarnoski for Breakthrough Director and for star Nicolas Cage as Best Actor.
Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog also won three awards: Best Director and Adapted Screenplay for Campion and Best Editing. The group opted for a calendar year eligibility this season and in doing so awarded Judas and the Black Messiah two: Best Supporting Actor for Daniel Kaluuya and Best Original Screenplay. Kaluuya won the Oscar for the role earlier this year at the last Oscars. Spencer was also a double winner: for Kristen Stewart as Best Actress and Best Score for Jonny Greenwood.
