Interview: Ben Foster discusses the preparation and pressure that came with making’ The Survivor’ [VIDEO]
Ben Foster hasn’t really done many television projects, one standout being his appearance in the first episode of Freaks and Geeks, but Foster’s cinematic projects have ranged from X-Men: The Last Stand, 3:10 to Yuma, Leave No Trace, and Hell or High Water. When one looks at his filmography, his work spans virtually every genre.
With his new film The Survivor, Foster reunites with director Barry Levinson 20 years after he launched his film career in 1999 with Liberty Heights. Originally debuting at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival, The Survivor details the true story of boxer Harry Haft and how he survived the Holocaust while boxing fellow prisoners. AwardsWatch was lucky to spend some time with Foster digging into his preparation for the project and the enormous pressure which came with tackling this subject matter.
The Survivor is currently streaming on HBO Max. Ben Foster is Emmy eligible for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
