Interview: Danielle Pinnock and Rebecca Wisocky, the dynamic duo of ‘Ghosts,’ talk about Alberta and Hetty’s feud coming to an end, character growth and what they want to see next [VIDEO]
Let’s face it. Broadcast television has been struggling since the streaming giants have been on the scene. Only the best sitcoms that can manage to pull in a wide audience can make it these days. That’s why CBS’s Ghosts is such a rare treasure and one of the funniest shows on television.
I caught up with stars Danielle Pinnock and Rebecca Wisocky after the second season finale to recap everything that’s gone on in the mansion over the past two seasons, including the drama between the two and all the gaslighting that Hetty has been doing to Alberta for literally the past century.
“Hetty has had a whole lot of growth, but she’s probably had the farthest to go,” Wisocky said of her character. “She’s really a stick in the mud, and has changed dramatically,” she added. The Obie Award-winning theater actress went on to explain how happy she was to be doing the interview with Danielle since Hetty’s growth was directly influenced by Alberta. “All the women in this house have influenced one another so greatly.” After all, these women wouldn’t have known each other in their respective times, so that provides such an opportunity for growth between the characters. Pinnock then chimed in to add that she wonders if her ancestors could have a second shot at life, “how would they do things differently?” And as a viewer, it’s super fun to watch and to contemplate.
The two recalled how much they enjoy working with each other, and then went on to discuss which flashbacks of their characters they would like to see from the show in Season 3. On the heels of Samantha’s comment in the season finale about the growth that has taken place in the mansion over the last two seasons, the dynamic duo opened up and shared how they have grown as people since they shot the pilot during the pandemic.
