Interview: ‘Dr. Death’ stars Joshua Jackson and Christian Slater discuss what attracted them to ‘Death’ and maintaining levity between takes [VIDEO]
It’s hard to wrap one’s head around the idea that the same person who was an original cast member of The Mighty Ducks and at one point was best known for his role as “Pacey” on Dawson’s Creek is now playing the title role in Dr. Death, yet here we are.
Joshua Jackson leads a fantastic cast in Peacock’s limited series Dr. Death, based on Wondery’s hit podcast (the folks behind the wildly popular Dirty John podcast) inspired by the terrifying true story of Christopher Duntsch who was a rising star in neurosurgery when suddenly he snapped. Patients began coming in for surgery and never would end up coming out. Jackson is terrifying in the role, yet even when faced with tackling such a twisted character, he never managed to lose his sense of humor. We touch on that, some marriage advice he has for me, and what drew him to this part in our interview.
We also had a chance to speak with Christian Slater, who plays vascular surgeon Dr. Randall Kirby in the series. While seeing Slater in a twisted show isn’t abnormal, seeing him as the protagonist certainly is. We also talked about how Joshua Jackson had a unique way of keeping things light in between takes.
Dr. Death premieres today on Peacock.
