Interview: Jake Lacy on audience perception of Shane and very memorable scenes of ‘The White Lotus’ [VIDEO]

Jake Lacy, who is now a first-time Emmy nominee, had the chance to tackle a meaty role in Shane Patton, a newly married man who thinks that he deserves everything and everyone owes him something. In the very well-received first season of HBO’s anthology series The White Lotus, Lacy got to share the screen with tremendous talent, including Alexandra Daddario as Rachel, his new bride, Molly Shannon as his mother, Jennifer Coolidge as his unfortunate boatmate, and Murray Bartlett as a miserable resort manager who becomes the subject of Shane’s wrath when his room isn’t exactly what he expected.

We got to speak with Lacy about how fans have responded to Shane and one of those scenes that everyone asks him about, particularly the contents of his suitcase in the season finale. We also talked about some of Lacy’s formative work and reminisced about other projects like High Fidelity and Space that either aren’t coming back for a second season or aren’t coming out at all.

Jake Lacy is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The White Lotus (episode “New Day”), which is available to stream on HBO Max.
