Lost amongst all of the deserved hoopla and praise which has been given to Walt Disney’s new animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon has been how wonderful their latest animation short Us Again is, their first in five years.
Directed by veteran animator Zach Parrish who some might remember as the head of animation on Big Hero 6 and the director of the short circuit film Puddles, Us Again is a beautiful chronicle of the dichotomy between a married couple as each are coming to terms with their age and how they see their lives, past and present, differently.
The film is the first theatrical short for Disney in five years, since Inner Workings, which accompanied Moana, on the big screen. While the short won’t make its Disney+ debut till June, it can be found currently with Raya and the Last Dragon in theaters.
We were lucky enough to speak with Parrish about his latest project days before it hit the big screen.
