Kristen Stewart is Princess Diana in first teaser for Pablo Larraín’s ‘Spencer’

NEON has released the first teaser for Pablo Larraín’s highly anticipated Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart as Lady Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales. Yesterday was the reveal of the first teaser poster.
In the brief, one-minute teaser set to an orchestral cover of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day,” we see the holiday festivities being set in place as Diana spirals through moments of despair and euphoria, very much in the same way that Larraín’s Jacqueline Onassis biopic Jackie showed its heroine, which earned an Oscar nomination for Natalie Portman in the titular role. Cleverly, the trailer waits until the last moments to reveal Stewart’s take on Diana’s very specific voice.
2022 Oscar Predictions: BEST ACTRESS (August)
Synopsis: The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.
Larraín directs from a screenplay by Steven Knight and the film co-stars Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall and Jack Farthing.
Spencer will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival next week, then hit Telluride and Toronto before debuting only in theaters on November 5.
