‘Logan,’ ‘I, Tonya’ grab Writers Guild of America (WGA) nominations; ‘The Post’ is snubbed
The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in screenwriting during 2017.
Among them, The Big Sick, Get Out and I, Tonya (above) in Original Screenplay. The Liz Hannah & Josh Singer script for The Post was snubbed. In Adapted, expected nominees like Call Me By Your Name, The Disaster Artist, Mudbound and Molly’s Game showed up alongside a surprise nomination for Logan.
Several films were deemed ineligible, such as Darkest Hour and Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. This is largely a guild member-based ineligibility. Animated films are also not eligible here.
Winners will be honored at the 2018 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 11, at concurrent ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City.
