Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Nominations: 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips and Gravity Sound Good

Los Angeles—January 15, 2014—The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) today announces nominees for the 61st MPSE Golden Reel Awards in feature film categories. Nominees represent the work of the world’s most talented film editors and their contributions to the best films of the past year. Nominations for television, animation and computer entertainment categories will be announced on Friday, January 17th. “2013 was a year of incredible movies—and incredible movie sound,” said MPSE president Frank Morrone. “Sound editors continued to advance their craft and find new and innovative ways to help filmmakers tell stories. We congratulate this year’s nominees for their outstanding work.” The MPSE Golden Reel Awards recognize outstanding achievement in sound editing in 22 categories encompassing feature films, television, animation, computer entertainment and student work. The 61st MPSE Golden Reel Awards will be held February 16, 2013 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles. The 61st MPSE Golden Reel Awards Nominees:

Erik Anderson is the founder/owner and Editor-in-Chief of AwardsWatch and has always loved all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards since he was in single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Among his many achieved goals with AwardsWatch, he has given a platform to underrepresented writers and critics and supplied them with access to film festivals and the industry and calls the Bay Area his home where he lives with his husband and son.
