Netflix drama ‘Adú’ leads 35th Goya Awards nominations
With 14 nominations, the Salvador Calvo-directed drama Adú is the most-nominated film at the 35th Goya Awards, which were announced on Monday. Calvo’s second feature follows three interconnected stories all set in Africa.
Other Best Film nominees include: David Pérez Sañudo Ane Is Missing, Icíar Bollaín’s La boda de Rosa (Rosa’s Wedding), Pilar Palomero’s The Girls, and Cesc Gay’s The People Upstairs aka Sentimental.
Javier Cámara (The People Upstairs), earning his 8th Goya nomination (5 lead, 2 supporting, 1 breakthrough), surpasses Alfredo Landa for most nominations by an actor. Candela Peña (La boda de Rosa) also earned her 8th nomination (2 lead, 5 supporting, 1 breakthrough). Juanma Bajo Ulloa (Bafrom) earns his first Best Director nomination in 27 years, the longest gap ever in this category. Roque Baños (Adú) earns his 15th nomination (he’s double-nominated this year), his 11th in the Original Score category and his 4th in Song.
Here is the full list of nominations for the 35th Goya Awards. The awards will be held in a live-streamed ceremony from the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank in Málaga on Saturday, March 6.
