Official Poster for Kevin Macdonald’s Houston doc ‘WHITNEY’
You saw the teaser poster, now Roadside Attractions and Miramax have revealed the official poster for Kevin Macdonald’s doc WHITNEY, which world premiered at the Cannes Film Festival two weeks ago.
The poster features a never-before-seen photo of Houston shot by acclaimed photographer Randee St Nicholas. Over the years, Randee collaborated with Whitney Houston many times and opened up her archives to the studios.
[box type=”shadow” align=”” class=”” width=””]“In choosing the key art/movie poster that was to visually represent the official documentary titled ‘Whitney,’ the creatives at Roadside wanted to do something very special that would capture the essence of this beloved icon. They came to my studio, and together we poured through my extensive film archives of Whitney to find photographs that hadn’t been seen and honor the emotional content of the film. We pulled hundreds of images and Roadside Attractions made dozens of comps with their agency. Besides her mesmerizing voice and completely natural acting abilities, Whitney exuded a joyful spirituality that accompanied her contagious smile. Being a combustible blend of darkness and light and depth and soul, it was always fascinating to explore the many dimensions of Whitney. The final poster they created is both powerful and honest…glimpsing the intimate story in Whitney’s eyes.”[/box]
