Producers Guild (PGA) Award nominees include ‘Ford v Ferrari,’ Parasite,’ ‘Succession,’ ‘Schitt’s Creek’
The Producers Guild of America has revealed its nominees in the motion picture and television categories for its 31st Annual Producers Guild Awards; nominees include recent Golden Globe film winners 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, animated feature Missing Link, and television series’ Succession, Fleabag and Chernobyl.
The PGA uses a preferential balloting system that’s similar to the Oscars. The PGA and AMPAS both expanded their voting for the top film to 10 nominees in 2009. About three-quarters of the PGA’s Zanuck nominees wind up as Oscar best picture nominees.
The PGA, which has about 8,200 members (similar to AMPAS), has matched the Oscar for Best Picture in 21 out of 30 years, including Green Book last year and The Shape of Water in 2018, but faltered in 2017 with La La Land and 2016 with The Big Short.
On the television side new nominees included Watchmen and Schitt’s Creek and the return of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (last year’s winner) going up against Fleabag and Barry.
The 31st Producers Guild of America Awards will be held on January 18th. Here is the full list of nominees.
