Richard Linklater’s ‘Hit Man’ with Glen Powell and Adria Arjona Gets First Teaser, Release Date
A hit when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year and the Toronto International Film Festival a few weeks later, Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona.
Based on a Texas Monthly profile feature by Skip Hollandsworth, Hit Man is the somewhat true story of a fake hit man, the film adapts the profile piece about real-life faux hit man Gary Johnson but imagines a more detailed inner life that ultimately skews from the truth to create a thrilling story and psychological study, ca[turing auteur Richard Linklater‘s masterful skill and finesse in his own version of a film noir meets comedy romance, while showcasing leading man Glen Powell’s talent on both sides of the camera.
In our review out of Venice, Luke Hearfield called it Hit Man “Linklater’s most accessible and mainstream film he’s made since 2003’s School of Rock” and “not simply a fun caper, it is also a clever examination of identity.” Powell can currently be seen on the big screen with Sydney Sweeney in their blockbuster rom-com that just broke $100M at the box office.
Hit Man will release on Netflix in select countries* Friday, June 7, 2024 with a limited theatrical release prior.
