SAG Television Nominations: ‘Mrs. Maisel,’ ‘Ozark’ lead with four
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Ozark topped the Screen Actors Guild nominations for television this morning, earning four apiece including Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series, respectively.
Two-time SAG winner Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) and first-time nominee this morning, Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians), announced the nominees live from the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.
New series’ made big waves today with the first seasons of Barry and The Kominsky Method both earning three nominations, pushing out reigning winners like William H. Macy in Shameless. GLOW also earned three nominations, including for its Stunt Ensemble.
In the Limited Series/TV Movie section, Sharp Objects and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story led the way with two apiece. SAG does not have an Ensemble category for that section.
More than 160,000 SAG-AFTRA members vote on the awards, making it one of the industry’s largest awards voting bodies. Morgan Freeman is the recipient of this year’s Life Achievement Award.
The 25th annual SAG Awards will air LIVE on TNT and TBS January 27, 2019 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET and be hosted by four-time SAG-winning actor Megan Mullally.
