The ‘Carol’ Poster is Here and It’s Stunning
The first poster for Carol has arrived and it’s quite a stunner.
Upon first glance it throws you off by having both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara partially cut from the frame. But then the nuance of the photos set in and say so much; you see Blanchett’s wrinkles around her eyes just ever so slightly, hinting at her age and with a look in her eye and with a barely upturned mouth that suggests at a guarded self. The richness in the textures of her golden hair and fur are luxurious. This is wonderfully contrasted by Mara’s porcelain visage and wide-eyed appearance that exposes her youth and naiveté and the modesty of the single pearl earring is exquisite.
The women face in opposite directions but one can imagine that side by side they could be in the same frame. There’s a calculated cautiousness to this presentation that practically eeks out suspense of what this scene entails.
Here is the poster:
Carol, directed by Todd Haynes, will be released November 20th by The Weinstein Company.
