Hidden Figures, the true story of a group of female African-American mathematicians at NASA who battled racial and gender inequality and who became one of the most integral, but not well known, parts of the USA’s position in the space race in the 1960s. Oscar and Emmy nominee Taraji P. Henson plays Katherine Johnson, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer plays Dorothy Vaughn and Grammy nominee Janelle Monáe plays Mary Jackson.
From 20th Century Fox:
[box type=”shadow” align=”” class=”” width=””]As the United States raced against Russia to put a man in space, NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history. Based on the unbelievably true life stories of three of these women, known as “human computers”, we follow these women as they quickly rose the ranks of NASA alongside many of history’s greatest minds specifically tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return. Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson crossed all gender, race, and professional lines while their brilliance and desire to dream big, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race, firmly cemented them in U.S. history as true American heroes.[/box]
The film also stars Oscar winner Kevin Costner, Emmy nominee Kirsten Dunst, Emmy nominee Mahershala Ali, Emmy winner Jim Parsons and Glen Powell.
Directed by Ted Melfi (St. Vincent), Hidden Figures will be released by Fox 2000 on January 13th, 2017 with a December 2016 Oscar-qualifying run first. Check out where
