The ‘House of Gucci’ trailer is here and it’s a wild, soapy, accent-filled ride
There might not be many movies more anticipated than Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci and today MGM/UA whetted our appetites with antipasto teaser for the film that stars Lady Gaga and Adam Driver.
Opening with a slowed down version of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” the trailer for House of Gucci tells the true story of, ar at least the story that inspired, the assassination of Maurizio Gucci (Driver), grandson of Guccio Gucci and the downfall of the fashion family dynasty. Academy Award winner Lady Gaga makes her second Best Actress play as socialite Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio’s ex-wife who was tried and convicted of orchestrating his murder after he left her for a younger woman. She served 18 years in prison for her part, where she earned the nickname Black Widow (sorry, ScarJo), before being released in 2016.
House of Gucci’s star-studded, Oscar-winning cast also includes Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons and Jared Leto as well as Oscar nominee Salma Hayek. Scott directs from a script by Roberto Bentivegna, based on Sara Gay Forden’s novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. MGM, Bron Creative and Scott Free Productions produce with executive producers Aidan Elliott, Marco Valerio Pugini, Megan Ellison, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth.
MGM releases the film only in theaters on November 24. Here is the trailer.
