Trailer and Poster for A24’s Darkly Comic Berlin Winner ‘A Different Man’ Starring Sebastian Stan and Adam Pearson

A24 has released the first trailer and poster for Aaron Schimberg’s A Different Man, starring Sebastian Stan, Adam Pearson and Renate Reinsve.
The darkly comic A Different Man tells the story of an unexpected and impossible change that also unmasks an unfortunate truth: that a complete makeover can’t change everything about a person. Aspiring actor Edward (Stan) undergoes a radical medical procedure to drastically transform his appearance. But his new dream face quickly turns into a nightmare, as he becomes obsessed with reclaiming what was lost when he becomes fixated on an actor in a stage production based on his former life (Pearson) and his former girlfriend (Reinsve).
The film had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year and went on to screen at the Berlin International Film Festival where Sebastian won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance. The film was opening night of the New Directors/New Films (NDNF) festival this spring. In his review out of Sundance for AwardsWatch, Abe Friedtanzer said “In his third feature film and his second collaboration with Pearson, filmmaker Aaron Schimberg casts a wide net in his filmmaking style. The movie passes through a handful of genres and often features rushed zooms, loud noises, and wild musical cues seemingly designed to alarm audiences and ensure that they’re truly paying attention.”
A24 will release the film theatrically on September 20. Here are the trailer and poster below.
