Showtime has revealed the full list of its cast for David Lynch and Mark Frost’s 2017 reboot/revival of their seminal TV show – all 217 of them.
The series, picking up 25 years after the reveal of Laura Palmer’s murderer, is chock full of actors back in their original roles such as Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper, Sherilyn Fenn as Audrey and David Duchovny as DEA Agent Denise Bryson. Even Sheryl Lee, Laura Palmer herself, is returning. Just how remains a mystery. Catherine Coulson, the ever-popular Log Lady, died in September 2015 but will appear on the show.
Joining them are new faces to the David Lynch fray like Academy Award-nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Cera, Sky Ferreira, Amanda Seyfried and Monica Bellucci. A Lynch favorite, Laura Dern, is also set to make an appearance. Another Lynch lady, Academy-Award nominee Naomi Watts, is set to appear, sparking rumors that she may even play Diane, her character from Mulholland Dr. While almost all of the original cast is returning, missing from the list is Laura Flynn Boyle, who played Donna Hayward on the show. She was replaced by Moira Kelly in the feature film prequel Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Also not coming is Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Truman. He’s reportedly been replaced by Academy Award-nominee Robert Forster.
Those who remember the open ended season 2 finale might find the line “I’ll see you again in 25 years” either lucky or prophetic.
Principal photography has wrapped on not one but TWO complete seasons set to debut next year.
