  • Damian Pietrzak

Trailer was great but still think you guys are overstimeting La La Land. Its going to be nominated but 4th?

    1. “Silence”
    2. “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk”
    3. “Birth of a Nation”
    4. “Loving”
    5. “Manchester by the Sea”
    6. “Fences”
    7. “Arrival”
    8. “Sully”
    9. “La La Land”
    10. “Moonlight”

    • AwardsWatch

It’s high but with the date change and opening Venice (and likely hitting Telluride and TIFF) it puts the film in a very good place.

      • Alec Glass

Ay and look at it now

  • Damian Pietrzak

I think you should delete from “Other contenders” list films like American Pastoral and Bleed for this b/c they were panned by critics. Instead i would add Florence Foster Jenkins

  • It’s time to recognize Hacksaw Ridge possibility in this category…

  • Solveig Baylor

k but what about nocturnal animals?

    • It’s quite a long shot for a Best Picture nomination.

  • Alec Glass

is nobody concerned about the fact that La La Land didn’t get a SAG ensemble nod?? The only film to win BP w/o that was Braveheart and that was the first year they had the category

    • AwardsWatch

This is something that’s been talked about and mentioned by every pundit and in our podcasts. It’s definitely a cause of concern in terms of LLL’s BP winning ability but it’s not the end of its chances, by any means.

      • Alec Glass

Oh absolutely, I agree, I guess it just struck me as odd that it’s not only still ahead but still ahead with 10-way unanimous consent

        • AwardsWatch

That’s just because there isn’t anything that’s taken its place as the frontrunner yet. Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea are giving chase, to be sure.
