2014 EMMYS: How Did Our Experts Do?
Winning by a single point, Emmy Expert Nicole takes the crown with 181 cumulative points in his Emmy winner predictions followed oh so closely by Chris, with 180. Federico landed in 3rd with 175. Points were given based on the rankings of winners. Below are the totals for each Emmy Expert then each category and how the actual winner was ranked by our experts.
Peter gets to claim the Lead Actor champ crown as the only expert to correctly pick Breaking Bad‘s Cranston to prevail over True Detective‘s McConaughey.
Federico accurately predicted The Good Wife‘s Margulies in the most heated race of the night.
Only Chris and Erik saw how big the Breaking Bad sweep was going to be in choosing Paul to win here.
Peter once again was singularly victorious in choosing Scandal’s Morton here.
We all missed this, thinking that Vince Gilligan would finally win a writing Emmy but most of did have Breaking Bad‘s actually Emmy-winning submission in 2nd.
We all fumbled on Modern Family‘s record-tying 5th win here. Orange is the New Black didn’t pan out to be the champ as we all thought.
Only Jonathan and Erik saw Jim Parson’s nabbing a 4th win here.
Probably our biggest fumble in the main series categories with only Federico having Modern Family‘s Burrell as a runner up.
Again, another mistake of thinking Orange was going to have a big Emmy night with a Jodie Foster directing win that ultimately went to Modern Family for the 4th year in a row.
Congrats to Federico for sticking with Louie when support for this win waned in the last weeks leading up the Emmys.
No one came close to predicting Sherlock‘s Cumberbatch to win this, Erik’s 3rd place ranking came in as the highest.
Although most had American Horror Story‘s Lange in 2nd, no one thought Cicely Tyson was even vulnerable here.
Again, another seemingly locked win (for The Normal Heart‘s Matt Bomer) saw another major upset by Sherlock.
Another upset, this time by American Horror Story‘s Kathy Bates, a 5-time nominee in this category and now a winner. Julia Roberts (The Normal Heart) and Allison Tolman (Fargo) were the frontrunners going into the ceremony.
While many of us chose Fargo‘s 1st episode to win here it was the brilliant snowstorm shootout that won.
