The 72nd Golden Globe nominations are tomorrow morning and AwardsWatch’s Gold Rush Gang has the web’s best predictions right here. Looking at a cross-section of the GRG there is total agreement in Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama), Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama), Best Screenplay and Best Animated Film. From there we find some diversity and some interesting races and predictions. In Best Motion Picture (Drama) three of the four members are in line, predicting Boyhood, Gone Girl, The Imitation Game, Selma and Unbroken with just Alexander outside, predicting The Theory of Everything instead of Gone Girl. Will he be right and show us all up?
Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture and Best Director see our group of four split 2/2 with Matt M and myself opting for Emma Stone in Birdman while Alexander and Peter have Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year getting the nod. In Director, Matt M and Peter have David Fincher (Gone Girl) while Alexander and myself see Ava DuVernay (Selma) joining Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman), Angelina Jolie (Unbroken), Richard Linklater (Boyhood) and Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) for the mention.
Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, Best Original Score and Best Original Song look to be very contentious categories as there is no agreement amongst the four Gold Rush Gang members so we’ll be keeping a close eye on those races and who comes out on top.
