2015 Oscar Predictions: SUPPORTING ACTRESS – Kristen Stewart (Still Alice) Enters the Race

After entering last month’s chart as a dark horse, Still Alice‘s Kristen Stewart is now officially in the Gold Rush Gang top 5. Her support has been growing and many of us  believe with the strong word of mouth of her performance from those who have seen it and Sony Pictures Classic‘s success with getting Sally Hawkins into this category (on the tails of the undeniable Best Actress frontrunner) that Stewart is well on her way to her first Oscar nomination. Stewart, whose reputation as aloof and dismissive, is working the circuit with Julianne Moore and actively altering the media’s perception of her. With critically praised performances in Camp X-Ray and 2015’s Clouds of Sils Maria, Stewart’s campaign to be taken seriously looks to be working.

Elsewhere in the top 5 we see small increases from last month’s top 2 ladies. Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) remains at #1 by a good margin and Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game) stays at #2. But what’s this? Meryl Streep (Into the Woods) tears into the chart with a giant 25-point increase as confirmation of her placement here gets nearer and nearer. The recent featurette of her singing ‘Stay With Me’ was the clincher though, it’s marvelous. And the film is just now kicking in its awards campaign.

Only Birdman‘s Emma Stone falters (as she did last month) but holds onto her place in the top 5. Poor Carmen Ejogo (Selma) though; a 24-point fall puts her in a very bad position and is going to need some active work from Paramount to get her back in the conversation. Currently only Kenneth and myself (a recurring pattern, no?) continue to have her in.

And what to make of Jessica Chastain? Back and forth talk of her category placement for A Most Violent Year, coupled with a potentially strong push for Interstellar, has seen her support for both films fall. With the release of two new trailers this week for A Most Violent Year that saw Chastain receive great notices for, will A24 keep her in Lead for a reportedly borderline performance or drop her to Supporting where she stands a good chance at winning? Either way, A24 has never been an Oscar player (but really, it’s never had the chance until now) so can it compete with the big boys? Will Paramount throw enough money at a Chastain campaign to squash her chances for AMVY? And what of the Screen Actors Guild category placement deadline of Oct. 28th? At that point, A24 was positioning Chastain in Lead where she might miss. Can they turn it around in time?

  • Do you enjoy being wrong? Because the Spirit nominations were just announced, and Kristen Stewart was snubbed. This was her best chance for any nomination and she just lost that.

She's not in the same class as the other actresses eligible this year, and she won't be nominated for an Oscar or anything else. She's not well liked within the industry, and critics have no say in the nominations. Her PR team spends a lot of effort on creating fake buzz about her, but she's going nowhere fast.

    • Some of robsessesd for sure in remember the same sentence that you said
Robsesseed always said it is PR
At least kristen movie is better than movies of rob

      • What happened to your crush on Nick Hoult? I thought this was supposed to be his year? How'd that work out? His career is going nowhere, just like Stewart's.

Too bad he was so desperate for publicity that he let him self be used in NY to bolster up KStew's sad reputation. Only today, Gossip Cop had to run a story about how their "romance" was totally fake. Of course we all knew it was fake, she's still wearing Alicia's ring and matching necklace. Ah, true love, so sweet.

        • Lexi ,why do you hate Kristen Steward so much?? What has she done to you personally to warrant all of this bitterness towards her?Alicia and Kristen are just good girl friends. They hang out together. What is wrong with that?

          • So glad you brought this up again, since time has passed and proved I was right all along. She was never a legitimate contender for any award. All her hype was bought and paid for by her PR team because she's desperate for validation. Too bad she's not getting it.

I don't care what she does, and you need to examine yourself if you think I'm bitter. A few good reviews are all she's got. She's not even nominated for any awards this year, she's unemployed and has no films lined up for next year. What is there to be bitter about? It's not like she's Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence who has a bunch of films to keep her busy. And I'm not bitter about her, either, she's fantastic.

Alicia has been living in Kristen's house with her, as a couple, for well over a year. They have matching tatts on their right arms that Alicia drew. Kristen wears Alicia's A ring on her left hand, and there was plenty of PDA on that beach in Hawaii during their romantic NYE getaway.

They've been a couple for a long time, and Kristen doesn't seem concerned who knows about them. They parade for the paps almost daily in LA.

It's called bisexuality, look it up if you aren't familiar with it.

          • Are you living there too Lexi?? Check your facts before you come on here to type?? Did you know that Kristen's brother is also living there in her house. He writes and directs. You have so much venom in your mouth when you speak about Kristen. Why is that?

          • You don't mean Cam, the brother who's a grip, do you? Yeah, I know one of her brother's has done some housesitting in the past, but I also know that every pic of Alicia in the past year has been taken at Kristen's house.

A lot from the kitchen. Like when she was away in Japan, Alicia instgrammed pics of a pizza party she was having at Kristen's house. You don't generally throw parties in someone's house when the owner is gone unless you live there, do you? And Kristen replied to the pic, saying she wished she was there.

They don't seem to care who knows they live together, they were just at the beach again, goofing off. No sure where the venom line comes from, unless you're homophobic. Personally, I'm very happy for KStew and Alicia, they seem very happy together.

          • Lexi, she may live there, but so does Kristen's brother. He writes and he directs. Did you know the rest of her brothers and her mother was there too? You need to check your facts from a reliable source and I don't mean the cheap tabloids

          • lol, her mother has a house in the valley, it was in the LA Times Real Estate section. She doesn't live in Los Feliz and her brothers don't live there, either. One of them is a grip, not a director, he's crew, just like their dad.

And where in the world do you have a reliable source for who lives in KStew's house? Neither she nor any of her family have talked to the LA Times about that, have they? If you're getting your info from a blog who claims her "cousin" is spilling details of her private life, then you are a joke.

    • Why robsessed always addicts kristen and goes every website to discredit her
If you don't like her you should ignore

      • It's well known that Kristen's fans are the most obnoxious. They've even been scolded publicly on twitter by PlayList and HitFix. They have a horrible reputation, just like Stewart herself.

Why do they bother running around the internet trying to make her look better than she is? She was snubbed by the Indys and so far has been snubbed by every organization giving awards.

Now that more people have seen Still Alice, they know all the hype about her performance was fake. She has a very small, insignificant role and will be ignored as far as awards are concerned.

As far as her movies being better than Pattinson's, at least two of his indies have made profits, something none of her indies has ever done. And his are critical successes, while On The Road was a critical and box office failure.

        • The only one that is obnoxious in here is you Lexi. I bet the bank that it was you who sent FKA:Twigs all of those racial comments. You are so jealous of their relationship. Robert does not care and you are wasting time trying to bully Kristen

        • Oh, you don't think your hate is blisteringly obvious? You need to know those responsible for awards & who wins are not listening to you.
This is not a competition between Rob & Kristen. You need to relax and spew you venom elsewhwe.
I feel sorry for you and Rob actually, if this is the only way you know how to support him.

    • It shows on the graft above that she is in 5th place. That means she has a chance Lexi. Just look above at the graft.

  • Lexi you do not know me so please do not be so mean spirited in calling me obnoxious. Kristen Stewart is a very good actress. I am not a child therefore, I have not been scolded on twitter, Playlist or HitFix. I do not have a horrible reputation. In fact, I happen to have a lot of respect for those that were nominated. Kristen is only 24. There will be times in the future when she will be nominated and she will win.
