The winners of the 8th African American Film Critics Associations have been announced with Moonlight taking Picture, Director, Supporting Actor, Independent Film and a shared win with Hidden Figures for Janelle Monáe’s breakout in both films.
Loving and Fences were also recognized in top categories and the animated film Zootopia, with its race and class-based theme, won Animated Film. Ava DuVernay’s film 13TH won Documentary.
