2016 Cannes Film Festival: Critics’ Week Films Announced; Chloe Sevigny Short Closes

Chloë Sevigny’s debut film, Kitty, will close Critics’ Week at Cannes

The 55th La Semaine de la Critique (Critics’ Week) of the Cannes Film Festival has unveiled its films, including a trio of shorts directed by actresses as the Closing Film; Chloë Sevigny’s Kitty, Laetitia Casta’s En Moi and Sandrine Kiberlain’s Smile.

The Jury President this year is Valérie Donzelli and her jury includes Alice Winocour, Nadav Lapid, David Robert Mitchell and Santiago Mitre. La Semaine de la Critique hands out the Grand Prix Nespresso and the Prix Révélation France 4 for feature films and the Prix Découverte Leica Cine to one of the shorts in competition. In addition, five of the seven features in competition is also eligible for the Camera d’Or – the festival prize for best first film.

Critics’ Week (which runs May 12-20) continues to round out the festival, whose Official Selection was revealed last week. The Directors’ Fortnight will be announced tomorrow.
