The first round of 2016 Emmy winner predictions from The Emmy Experts are in and in all experts are seeing repeat wins for Game of Thrones and Veep in Drama and Comedy Series, respectively. All the Way and The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story should take the TV Movie and Limited Series Emmys quite handily as well.

While some of the acting categories seem solidly locked (before all episode submissions are in, that is) like Julia Louis-Dreyfus on her way to a fifth win a row here for Veep or Viola Davis again for How to Get Away with Murder, some seem a little more open and will be a battle of old guard vs. new blood (Kevin Spacey and Rami Malek in Lead Actor in a Drama Series) and what looks to be a very competitive Supporting Actor in a Drama Series race.

What will be interesting will be to see how the new popular rule vote will come into play. Will it just make last year’s winners all repeat? It could. As mentioned above, we could see both Series’ repeat as well as both Lead Actresses. Peter Dinklage and Allison Janney could make and tie Emmy records, respectively, with more wins. There is enough new blood in these nominations though that could see a lot of ‘easy calls’ be turned upside down. Maybe the ‘tapes’ will matter this year. If an actor or actress chooses wisely we could have some real races on our hands.

Here are the 2016 Emmy winner predictions from The Emmy Experts for July 20th.
