2016 Emmys: First Emmy Nomination Predictions (March)

As we find ourselves in the second half of the 2015/2015 television season, AwardsWatch’s Emmy Experts are here with some picks for who we think is making it to Emmy nomination morning in July. There are still tons of major contenders that remain to be seen like the Roots reboot from The History Channel and Confirmation and All the Way from HBO.

The expansion of the nominees in the series categories should prove to be quite exciting. We now have seven choices in Drama Series and Comedy Series and the acting categories are now a solid six. This year also sees a handful of shows that ended their runs last year and open up quite a few slots. Look at Comedy Actress – Parks and Recreation, The Comeback and Nurse Jackie all saw their leading ladies nominated last year and none are in competition now. That’s good news for Tracee-Ellis Ross in black-ish, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Ellie Kemper, Critics Choice and Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and possibly either Ilana Glazer or Abbi Jacobson (or both!) from Broad City to break through. Same goes for Drama Actor. Last year’s winner Jon Hamm (Mad Men) is gone. So is previous winner Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom). Who knows if Netflix’s Bloodline will show up within the Emmy deadline period (it probably will). If it doesn’t, that opens up another slot held by previous winner Kyle Chandler (albeit for Friday Night Lights).

Here are the current Emmy nomination predictions from the Emmy Experts in Drama, Comedy, TV Movie, Limited Series and both Variety categories. Click on the images to enlarge.
