2016 INOCA Winners: Mad Max with 7, Carol with 6

 

After leading the 8th INOCA (International Online Cinema Awards) nominations with 12 apiece, Mad Max: Fury Road and Carol nearly split those wins down the middle with the two films dominating the awards and leaving only Inside Out with more than a single win. In all, Mad Max drove away with seven prizes, including Best Director for George Miller and Carol won six, including Best Picture. The two films volleyed back and forth with the techs but only Carol managed an acting win (for Rooney Mara in Best Actress) and a Writing win (for Adapted Screenplay).

There was a tie in Best Supporting Actor between Emory Cohen (Brooklyn) and Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina) and the aforementioned Inside Out picked up Best Animated Feature as well as Best Original Screenplay. Room‘s Jacob Tremblay pulled out a surprise win (from a surprise nomination – his Oscar-winning co-star was snubbed here) in Best Actor and Mya Taylor adds an INOCA to her Independent Spirit Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Tangerine.
