We’ve got a new entry in the Best Actress race for next year’s Oscars and it’s two-time Oscar winner Sally Field. Her performance in Hello, My Name is Doris drew raves and standing ovations at SXSW this weekend, prompting many of us to look at the real potential for Field to crash the Best Actress race just three years after earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Lincoln, losing out to Anne Hathaway in Les Misérables. The film, which is currently looking for U.S. distribution, is about a woman (Field) who has lived with her mother all of her life and upon the woman’s death decides to venture out into the world and begin a romance with a younger man. Hello, My Name is Doris is directed by Michael Showalter (Wet Hot American Summer) and co-stars Natasha Lyonne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Max Greenfield and Stephen Root.
