The current box office champ, Hidden Figures, found itself with the highest honor of the Screen Actors Guild tonight for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture over other Best Picture nominees Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Fences and Captain Fantastic.
Earlier in the evening both Viola Davis and Denzel Washington won their respective categories (Supporting Actress and Lead Actor), Emma Stone (La La Land) won Lead Actress and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) won the individual acting categories, marking the first time that three non-white actors have won the top four acting slots since 2007 when Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy won. Whitaker and Hudson went on to repeat at Oscar, Murphy lost to Alan Arkin.
On the television side, Stranger Things won the top award with The Crown taking the Lead Actress and Actor wins for Claire Foy and John Lithgow, a first win for both. Orange is the New Black won its third Ensemble award in a row and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) won her first SAG for the HBO show.
