Philadelphia Film Critics Circle (PFCC) Winners: ‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘Sinners’ Fight It Out

The Philadelphia Film Critics Circle (PFCC) has selected One Battle After Another as the best film of 2025.

In what essentially amounted to a back and forth between One Battle After Another and Sinners, fully nine categories saw one film as the winner and the other as the runner-up. In the end, both films took home five wins.

Similarly, nearly all critics groups have awarded either Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) or Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You) in Best Actress; Philadelphia has gone with Buckley with Byrne as their runner-up.

Best Picture: One Battle After Another (Runner-up: Sinners)

Best Director: Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another (Runner-up: Ryan Coogler, Sinners)

Best Actor: Michael B. Jordan, Sinners (Runner-up: Ethan Hawke, Blue Moon)

Best Actress: Jessie Buckley, Hamnet (Runner-up: Rose Byrne, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You)

Best Supporting Actor: Benicio del Toro, One Battle After Another (Runner-up: Delroy Lindo, Sinners)

Best Supporting Actress: Teyana Taylor, One Battle After Another (Runner-up: Wunmi Mosaku, Sinners)

Best Script: Ryan Coogler, Sinners (Runner-up: Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another)

Best Animated Film: KPop Demon Hunters (Runner-up: Zootopia 2)

Best Documentary Film: Grand Theft Hamlet (Runner-up: Orwell: 2+2=5)

Best Foreign Language Film: It Was Just an Accident (Runner-up: Sentimental Value)

Best Ensemble Film: Sinners (Runner-up: One Battle After Another)

Best Cinematography: Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Sinners (Runner-up: Michael Bauman, One Battle After Another)

Best Soundtrack/Score: Ludwig Göransson, Sinners (Runner-up: Jonny Greenwood, One Battle After Another)

Best Directorial Debut: Charlie Polinger, The Plaque (Runner-up: Eva Victor, Sorry, Baby)

Best Breakthrough Performance: Chase Infiniti, One Battle After Another (Runner-up: Miles Caton, Sinners)

Best Philip’s Steaks Cheesesteak Film: Superman (Runner-up: Predator: Badlands)

Steve Friedman Award (for a person or film that drives major public discourse on a topic or issue): Sinners

Elaine May Award (for a deserving person or film that brings awareness to women’s issues): If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
