2019 Oscar Predictions: SOUND EDITING and SOUND MIXING (November)

First Man stays locked at #1 in Sound Editing despite faltering elsewhere this month. It feels like a category that would be impenetrable to its overall nomination potential and could even eke out a win.

Black Panther keeps moving up, ROMA holds on at #2.

After La La Land‘s shocking loss in Sound Mixing I will always be hesitant about defaulting to a musical to win this category. That said, I’m not budging A Star Is Born and feel the sheer breadth of its number of live performances should seal it. First Man, ROMA, and Black Panther will give it some steep competition but if there’s a Hacksaw Ridge to come in and spoil this…maybe The Mule? (no, that’s not happening)

Here are my 2019 Oscar Predictions for Sound Editing and Sound Mixing for November 22, 2018.
