When all is said and done, how did we actually do? Every year brings its twists and turns with surprise nominations and shocking snubs but it’s quite another to be able to call them. We did some of the time – and each of us found ourselves as lone predictors in categories that paid off.

Here is the breakdown of all of the Drama, Comedy and Limited Series categories that Erik, Kevin and Amanda predicted, who did best in each section and who the big winner was overall.

DRAMA SERIES (8)

  • Better Call Saul (AMC) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • The Crown (Netflix) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Ozark (Netflix) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Stranger Things (Netflix) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Succession (HBO) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • The Morning Show (Apple TV+) – Erik, Kevin
  • Pose (FX) – Erik, Kevin
  • Big Little Lies (HBO) – Amanda
  • Westworld (HBO) – Amanda

Missed: The Mandalorian (Disney+) and Killing Eve (AMC/BBC America)

We all got the top contenders Better Call Saul, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Crown, Ozark, Stranger Things and Succession but none of us saw The Mandalorian coming and we all blew it on Killing Eve remaining strong.

LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES (6)

  • Jason Bateman – Ozark – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Sterling K. Brown – This Is Us – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Brian Cox – Succession – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Bob Odenkirk – Better Call SaulErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Tobias Menzies – The CrownErik, Amanda
  • Billy Porter – Pose – Erik, Kevin
  • Jeremy Strong – Succession – Kevin, Amanda

Missed: Steve Carell – The Morning Show

We all got Jason Bateman, Sterling K. Brown and Brian Cox but Bob Odenkirk is something we didn’t see coming. Erik and Kevin got Billy Porter returning; Kevin and Amanda got Jeremy Strong. Steve Carell getting in seemed like an outside chance but clearly it was not.

LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES (6)

  • Jennifer Aniston – The Morning Show – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Olivia Colman – The Crown – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Viola Davis – How to Get Away with MurderErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Laura Linney – Ozark – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Elisabeth Moss – The Handmaid’s TaleErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Jodie Comer – Killing Eve – Erik, Kevin
  • Nicole Kidman – Big Little LiesAmanda

Missed: Sandra Oh – Killing Eve, Zendaya – Euphoria

The biggest shocks came here. We all got Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Colman and Laura Linney but none of us saw the snubs for Viola Davis and Elisabeth Moss being in the mix. Erik and Kevin stuck with Jodie Comer but again, we all fell short on Killing Eve and Sandra Oh returning to the fray and freshman Zendaya breaking through.

SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES (8)

  • Jonathan Banks – Better Call SaulErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Billy Crudup – The Morning Show – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Kieran Culkin – Succession – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • David Harbour – Stranger ThingsErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Tom Pelphrey – OzarkErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Bradley Whitford – The Handmaid’s Tale – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Josh O’Connor – The CrownErik, Amanda
  • Matthew Macfadyen – Succession – Kevin, Amanda
  • Mandy Patinkin – HomelandErik, Kevin

Missed: Nicholas Braun – Succession, Mark Duplass – The Morning Show, Giancarlo Esposito – Better Call Saul, Jeffrey Wright – Westworld

We chuffed this one good, only getting half the eventual nominees. None of us got all three Succession guys making it in (none of us had Nicholas Braun) but we all had Kieran Culkin while Kevin and Amanda also had Matthew Macfadyen. We all got Billy Crudup and Bradley Whitford but no one saw the snubs for Jonathan Banks, David Harbour and Tom Pelphrey coming or the return of Jeffrey Wright and first timer Mark Duplass.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES (8)

  • Helena Bonham Carter – The Crown – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Ann Dowd – The Handmaid’s TaleErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Julia Garner – Ozark – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Janet McTeer – OzarkErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Thandie Newton – Westworld – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Sarah Snook – Succession – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Meryl Streep – Big Little Lies – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Yvonne Strahovski – The Handmaid’s TaleKevin
  • Laura Dern – Big Little Lies – Amanda
  • Rhea Seehorn – Better Call SaulErik

Missed: Fiona Shaw – Killing Eve, Samira Wiley – The Handmaid’s Tale

We all got HBC, Julia Garner, Thandie Newton, Sarah Snook and Meryl Streep. We were all shocked by snubs of Ann Dowd and Janet McTeer and none of us picked the actual player from The Handmaid’s Tale getting in – Samira Wiley, as well as the return of Fiona Shaw. Amanda stuck with Laura Dern and it paid off.

GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES (6)

  • James Cromwell – Succession – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Charles Dance – The CrownErik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Ron Cephas Jones – This Is Us – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • O-T Fagbenle – The Handmaid’s TaleErik, Amanda
  • Andrew Scott – Black Mirror (“Smithereens”) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Jason Bateman – The Outsider – Erik
  • Gerald McRaney – This Is UsKevin
  • Dean Norris – Better Call SaulAmanda
  • Martin Short – The Morning Show – Kevin

Missed: Giancarlo Esposito – The Mandalorian

Kudos to Kevin for his Martin Short prediction! Kudos to Erik for Jason Bateman. We all got James Cromwell, Ron Cephas Jones and Andrew Scott. The big shock was Giancarlo Esposito as part of the big sweep for The Mandalorian.

GUEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES (6)

  • Alexis Bledel – The Handmaid’s Tale – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Laverne Cox – Orange Is the New Black – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Cherry Jones – Succession – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Cicely Tyson – How to Get Away with Murder – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Julie Dretzin – The Handmaid’s TaleErik, Kevin
  • Jane Lapidaire – The CrownErik, Amanda
  • Phylicia Rashad – This Is Us – Amanda
  • Cherry Jones – The Handmaid’s TaleKevin

Missed: Harriet Walter – Succession

We all got Alexis Bledel, Laverne Cox, Cherry Jones and Cicely Tyson. But we all flopped with our predictions for The Crown and The Handmaid’s Tale here, both of which underperformed in the acting categories. We all collectively missed Harriet Walter.

DIRECTING FOR A DRAMA SERIES (8)

  • The Crown – “Aberfan” (Benjamin Caron) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Ozark – “Fire Pink” (Alik Sakharov) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Stranger Things – “Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt” (The Duffer Brothers) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Succession – “This Is Not for Tears” (Mark Mylod) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • The Handmaid’s Tale – “Bear Witness” (Daina Reid) – Erik, Kevin
  • Homeland – “Prisoners of War” (Lesli Linka Glatter) – Erik, Kevin
  • The Outsider – “Fish in a Barrel” (Jason Bateman) – Erik, Kevin
  • Better Call Saul – “Bad Choice Road” (Thomas Schnauz) – Amanda
  • Better Call Saul – “Bagman” (Vince Gilligan) – Erik
  • The Handmaid’s Tale – “Mayday” (Mike Barker) – Amanda
  • Ozark – “Su Casa Es Mi Casa” (Ben Semanoff) – Amanda
  • Succession – “Hunting” (Andrij Parekh) – Kevin

Missed: The Crown – “Cri de Coeur;” The Morning Show – “The Interview”

Amanda called the double Ozark noms while Kevin called the two for Succession. Kevin and Erik both correctly picked Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland’s sole nomination) and while we all picked one episode for The Crown, we didn’t see the second one coming. No one got The Morning Show (we all picked The Handmaid’s Tale). We all thought Stranger Things was going to be stronger but it wasn’t. Erik put too much into Jason Bateman’s directing win last year into him getting in for The Outsider this year.

WRITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES (7)

  • The Crown – “Aberfan” (Peter Morgan) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • The Handmaid’s Tale – “Mayday” (Bruce Miller) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Ozark – “Fire Pink” (Miki Johnson) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Succession – “This Is Not for Tears” (Jesse Armstrong) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Better Call Saul – “Bagman” (Gordon Smith) – Erik, Kevin

  • Ozark – “All In” (Chris Mundy) – Amanda
  • Better Call Saul – “Bad Choice Road” (Thomas Schnauz) – Amanda

  • The Morning Show – “The Interview” (Kerry Ehrin) – Erik
  • Mr. Robot – “407 Proxy Authentication Required” (Sam Esmail) – Amanda
  • Stranger Things – “Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt” (The Duffer Brothers) – Kevin

Missed: Ozark – “Boss Fight”

Three nominations for Ozark? Amanda fared best with two. Kevin and I just had one. Kevin and Erik got one of Better Call Saul’s noms, Amanda got the other. We all got the single submissions of The Crown and Succession but failed on The Handmaid’s Tale missing out here.

Total Correct: Kevin (41), Amanda (41), Erik (38)

COMEDY SERIES (8)

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda

  • Silicon Valley (HBO) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Insecure (HBO) – Erik, Kevin
  • The Kominsky Method (Netflix) – Amanda

Missed: What We Do in the Shadows (FX)

We all put too much faith in first season of The Great and the last season of Silicon Valley. Amanda correctly picked The Kominsky Method while Erik and Kevin accurately chose Insecure. None of us saw the vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows coming into the light.

LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES (6)

  • Don Cheadle – Black Monday – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Ted Danson – The Good Place – Erik, Kevin, Amanda

  • Kristen Bell – The Good PlaceAmanda

Missed: Tracee Ellis Ross – black-ish

Kevin and Amanda got both Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini making the cut. Erik and Kevin got Issa Rae. We all missed the Pamela Adlon snub for the return of Tracee Ellis Ross.

  • Kenan Thompson – Saturday Night Live – Kevin

Missed: Andre Braugher – Brooklyn Nine-Nine, William Jackson Harper – The Good Place

Looking at how disparate our predictions were here we knew it was going to tough to nail down and it was. We all went 4/8 as a group with Erik and Kevin getting Mahersala Ali and Kevin getting Kenan Thompson. None of us called the return of Andre Braugher or William Jackson Harper and we all overestimated Nicholas Hoult.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES (8)

  • Alex Borstein – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • D’Arcy Carden – The Good Place – Erik, Kevin, Amanda

  • Annie Murphy – Schitt’s Creek – Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Emily Hampshire – Schitt’s CreekKevin, Amanda
  • Yvonne Orji – Insecure – Erik

Missed: Cecily Strong – Insecure

The Jane Lynch snub surprised us all. We went 6/8 as a group with Erik correctly picking Yvonne Orji and no one getting Cecily Strong.

  • Jon Hamm – Curb Your Enthusiasm Erik, Kevin, Amanda
  • Luke Kirby – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – Erik, Kevin, Amanda

  • Brad Pitt – Saturday Night Live – Erik, Amanda
  • Victor Garber – Schitt’s CreekAmanda
  • Fred Willard – Modern Family – Kevin

Adam Driver – Saturday Night Live, Dev Patel – Modern Love

The flop return of Curb Your Enthusiasm stopped Jon Hamm here. Erik and Amanda got Brad Pitt, Kevin got Fred Willard, we all got Eddie Murphy and Luke Kirby. We were all blindsided by Adam Driver (and chose John Mulaney instead) and Dev Patel.

GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES (6)

  • Jane Krakowski – Curb Your EnthusiasmErik, Kevin, Amanda

  • Angela Bassett – A Black Lady Sketch Show – Erik
  • Valerie Mahaffey – Dead to MeKevin

Missed: Bette Midler – The Politician, Maya Rudolph – Saturday Night Live

Wassup double nominee Maya Rudolph. We all had her for The Good Place but none of us were risky enough to also have her for SNL. We got the wrong actress for The Politician but we all got Sykes and Waller-Bridge but only Erik called Angela Bassett.

DIRECTING FOR A COMEDY SERIES (7)

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – “It’s Comedy or Cabbage” (Amy Sherman-Palladino) – Erik, Kevin, Amanda

We all got the two Marvelous Mrs. Maisel episodes plus Schitt’s Creek. Kevin and Amanda correctly predicted The Great, while Erik and Kevin got Will & Grace. No one picked the Modern Family series finale or Ramy. We all choked on Silicon Valley once again.

  • Sex Education – “Episode 1” (Laurie Nunn) – Kevin

Missed: What We Do in the Shadows – “Collaboration,” “Ghosts,” “On the Run”

Should have seen the Mrs. Maisel snub coming but we didn’t. Certainly not in favor of THREE episodes of What We Do in the Shadows. A total blindside there. We all got The Good Place and one Schitt’s Creek (Amanda got both SC). Erik and Amanda got The Great.

Total Correct: Kevin (42), Erik (41), Amanda (38)

  • Chris Evans – Defending JacobKevin, Amanda
  • Jeremy Irons – Watchmen – Kevin, Amanda
  • Paul Mescal – Normal People – Erik

Big Russell Crowe snub hit us all. Collectively we got Hugh Jackman and Mark Ruffalo, Kevin and Amanda got Jeremy Irons and only Erik picked Paul Mescal and Jeremy Pope.

The Watchmen cup runneth over but not for Tim Blake Nelson as Jovan Adepo took his heavily predicted spot. Same goes for Joe Mantello, who lost out to co-star Dylan McDermott. We all missed Tituss Burgess, too.

  • Patti LuPone – HollywoodErik

Missed: Holland Taylor – Hollywood, Tracey Ullman – Mrs. America

This was always going to be tough, figuring out which Mrs. America actresses would make the cut and although we were all correct on Uzo Aduba and Margo Martindale, we put all of our chips in for Emmy magnet Sarah Paulson when it was Tracey Ullman that would prevail. Speaking of Paulson, her partner Holland Taylor makes it in over her co-star Patti LuPone.

  • Mrs. America – “Shirley” (Amma Asante) – Amanda

Normal People – “Episode 5” (Lenny Abrahamson), Unorthodox (Maria Schrader)

The big shut out for Mrs. America here wreaked havoc on our predictions, as well as the underperformance of Unbelievable. Kevin and Amanda correctly predicted Watchmen’s three noms here while Erik correctly named Lynn Shelton getting in for Little Fires Everywhere. We all missed Lenny Abrahamson for Normal People and Maria Schrader for Unorthodox.
