With the future of movie theaters still up in the air (are we all really going to flock to the megaplex to see Tenet in the middle of a pandemic?) there’s never been a better time to curl up and binge an exciting new show or look forward to the new season of a favorite.

The last six months has given us tons of TV content to consume and even as film and television productions are slowly starting to perk back up, the realm of network, cable and streaming possibilities are still coming at us fast and furious. For the next four months (schedule changes permitting) we’ll be getting the series finale of The CW’s Supernatural, which will finally be closing the cases of the Winchester brothers after 15 seasons.

After a long delay due to obvious coronavirus restrictions, the globe-trotting and Emmy-winning The Amazing Race will return in October. The delay kept the 32nd season of the show out of this year’s Emmy race for the first time ever. Morning game shows will make way for nighttime versions like Press Your Luck, Family Feud and the reboot of Singled Out.

Get ready for some highly anticipated limited series’ like The Comey Rule (Showtime), a two-night event with Jeff Daniels as James Comey and Brendan Gleeson as President Trump in the adaptation of the best-selling book. Nicole Kidman returns to HBO in the family thriller The Undoing with Hugh Grant and Small Axe, from Academy Award winning director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) hits Amazon Prime Video after its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Netflix will drop the Nurse Ratched origin story Ratched, starring Emmy winner Sarah Paulson, on September 18 and you can catch Paulson before that on HBO’s quarantine movie Coastal Elites on September 12, with Issa Rae, Dan Levy and Bette Midler.

And it’s not all about TV either; streamers like Disney+ and Netflix were born ready for this and will bring us the live action Mulan (Disney+, September 4), The Trial of the Chicago 7 (Netflix, October 16) and David Byrne’s American Utopia (HBO, October 16). Expect many more titles in November and December (like Mank on Netflix) announced in the coming weeks.
