2020 Producers Guild: Plan B's Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy to receive David O. Selznick Achievement Award

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today that Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B will be honored with the 2020 David O. Selznick Achievement Award. They will accept the honor at the 31st Annual Producers Guild Awards on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

The Producers Guild of America’s Selznick Achievement Award recognizes producers for their outstanding body of work in motion pictures. The honor has a rich and distinguished history with past recipients including such legendary producers as Steven Spielberg, Barbara Broccoli, Saul Zaentz, Gale Anne Hurd, Brian Grazer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, David Heyman and last year’s 2019 recipient Kevin Feige.

“For nearly two decades, Plan B has been at the forefront of bringing unique and compelling stories that inspire, motivate and connect to diverse audiences,” said Producers Guild of America Presidents, Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher. “Their devotion to tackling some of America’s most timely topics with a fresh perspective and distinct voice in their storytelling is vital to raising the bar of the art and craft of filmmaking.”

Plan B is the Academy Award-winning company behind some of the most transformative films and television over the past 18 years, including the Best Picture winners 12 Years a Slave and Moonlight. They have also earned Academy Award nominations for their films ViceThe Big ShortSelma and The Tree of Life.  Additionally, Plan B won a Primetime Emmy Award for The Normal Heart and received Emmy nominations for the following television projects: Feud: Bette and Joan for Outstanding Limited Series, Big Men for Best Documentary and Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting Long-Form, and Nightingale for Outstanding Television Movie. They were honored with the Producers Guild of America’s Visionary Award in 2015 for their dedication to inspirational storytelling.

In addition to the award recognition, Plan B has had high grossing, profitable films like The Big Short, World War Z, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Departed, Moonlight, and 12 Years a Slave. 

More recently, they were producers of The King, directed by David Michôd and starring Timothée Chalamet, Joel Edgerton, and Robert Pattinson, Ad Astra, directed by James Gray and starring Brad Pitt, The Last Black Man in San Francisco directed by Joe Talbot, and If Beale Street Could Talk directed by Barry Jenkins and starring Regina King and Stephan James.

They are currently in post-production on BLONDE, directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Ana de Armas for Netflix, and Minari, directed by Lee Isaac Chung and starring Steven Yeun for A24.
