The Television Academy is in the middle of voting for this year’s Emmys, so it’s time to take a look at every category for Limited or Anthology Series.
Hulu is dominating the limited series landscape this season, with popular series’ like Dopesick, The Girl From Plainville, The Dropout and Under the Banner of Heaven. It’s safe to say that Hulu will probably end up with three nominees in the the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category, as well as acting, writing and directing nominations for these series. Netflix and HBO will also be competing with HBO having The White Lotus and Scenes From a Marriage, while Netflix’s main priority in these categories will be MAID. The writing and directing categories don’t have a clear frontrunner yet like the acting categories do, which makes it all the more fun to predict what could happen.
All four acting categories seem to have a clear frontrunner at this point: Michael Keaton for Dopesick (lead actor); Amanda Seyfried for The Dropout (lead actress); Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge for The White Lotus (supporting actor and actress, respectively). This doesn’t mean that the competition is weak, though, as there is still time for any of these races to become less clear on what will happen. With so many limited series competing in these categories, it might be difficult for Emmy voters to pick their favorite.
Here are my predictions for the main categories in Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and TV Movie:
Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series
Outstanding Television Movie
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
