The Writers Guild of America has revealed key dates and deadline for its 74th Writers Guild Awards. The ceremony is set for Sunday, March 20, a week before the Oscars, making it the final major awards show before the 94th Academy Awards.
At this time it is not known what the style the ceremony will take on, virtual or in-person, or if the WGA will continue its traditional simultaneous separate awards ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.
Submissions are currently open in all Categories: Screenplays (Original, Adapted, Documentary), Series (Drama, Comedy, New), TV-Radio-New Media Scripts and Paul Selvin Award (WGAW).
Nominations for TV prizes will be announced Thursday, January 13, with the film noms coming two weeks later on January 27. The WGA’s TV nominations also include new media, news, radio/audio and promotional writing.
The nomination date of January 27 adds to the already busy day that will see the Producers Guild and Directors Guild also announce their nominees. It’s also the first day of Oscar nomination voting.
