2024 Grammys Set Nomination and Awards Dates

The Recording Academy has announced its key dates and deadlines ahead of the 66th Grammy Awards, which will take place on Sun, February 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

This year’s Grammy nominees will be announced on Friday, November 10, 2023. Earlier this month, the Academy added three new genre categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album and, surely to be debated and highly competitive, Best Pop Dance Recording. In another major change, the four general field categories – Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist – were reduced from 10 nominees to eight, just two years after the expansion took them from eight to 10 in 2021. The Recording Academy also introduced a rule accounting for AI, stating that only human creators are eligible for Grammy awards. Additionally, the existing categories of Producer of the Year, Non-Classical and Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical have been moved to the general field, meaning all eligible voters can now vote in those previously specialized categories.

Another change this season comes in the eligibility period, which in March had been moved up a full month earlier than usual at the end, to August 31, 2023. In April, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. stated that the eligibility deadline would be extended by two weeks. This season’s eligibility for artists’ releases is now October 1, 2022 to September 15, 2023.

“Each and every amendment was created exactly with this in mind: openness, transparency, fairness,” Mason jr. told GRAMMY.com in an interview earlier this month. “Every process that we undertake — every amendment or change to our Awards process that gets initiated — is done to make the process more fair, transparent and accurate. And when we find things that can be improved, we’re in the position now to be able to make those changes, thankfully. Everything you’re seeing now is with the goal of being better and more accurate, honoring more music fairly and in relevant fashion, and making sure the process is transparent, fair and working.”

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will air live (8:00-11:30pm ET/5:00-8:30pm PT) on the CBS Television Network and will stream on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).*

Last year’s big winners were Harry Styles, earning his first Album of the Year award (for Harry’s House), Bonnie Raitt for Song of the Year (“Just Like That”), Lizzo for Record of the Year (“About Damn Time”) and Beyoncé became the winningest Grammy performer of all time, collecting her 32nd trophy for her dance album Renaissance.
