2024 Portland Critics Association (PCA) Winners: ‘The Brutalist’ Tops with 10

The Portland Critics Association (PCA) have announced the winners of their annual awards, honoring the best films, filmmakers, actors and other achievements of 2024. 

Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist led the pack, earning a massive 10 awards from its 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Lead Performance (Male) for Adrien Brody, Best Supporting Performance (Male) for Guy Pearce, as well as Best Screenplay and more.

Demi Moore (The Substance) and Ariana Grande-Butera (Wicked) were the lead and supporting female acting winners and Dune: Part Two snagged three wins, for Visual Effects, Sound Design and as Best Science Fiction Feature.

Here is the full list of winners and runners-up plus their top 10 films of the year.

Best Picture: The Brutalist (runners-ups: Dune: Part Two and The Substance)

Best Director: Brady Corbet, The Brutalist (runner-up: George Miller, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga)

Best Lead Performance (Male): Adrien Brody, The Brutalist (runner-up: Colman Domingo, Sing Sing)
Best Lead Performance (Female): Demi Moore, The Substance (runner-up: Mikey Madison, Anora)
Best Supporting Performance (Male): Guy Pearce, The Brutalist (runner-up: Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain)
Best Supporting Performance (Female): Ariana Grande-Butera, Wicked (runner-up: Margaret Qualley, The Substance)

Best Screenplay: Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold, The Brutalist (runners-up: Sean Baker, Anora)

Best Animated Feature: Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (runners-up: Flow)
Best Documentary Feature: Dahomey (runners-up: Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat)
Best Film Not in the English Language: Evil Does Not Exist (runners-up: About Dry Grasses)

Best Ensemble Cast: The Brutalist (runner-up: Conclave)
