Baby Reindeer led the nominations for the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards announced today with eight. The Emmy Award-winning limited series snagged nods for limited series, supporting actresses Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau, leading actor Richard Gadd, directing for fiction, editing for fiction, sound for fiction and writing for drama.
Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Rivals and Slow Horses were all next with six each.
Competing for the international series award are FX’s Emmy Award-winning Shōgun and HBO’s Emmy Award winner True Detective: Night Country, plus BAFTA nominees Say Nothing from Hulu and Colin From Accounts from Paramount+.
Big snubs of the day included Peacock’s The Day of the Jackal, starring BAFTA and Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch, which only managed to get craft awards nominations for editing and production design. Black Doves, The Gentlemen, and Fool Me Once were all shut out of the main awards (Black Doves got a craft nomination for costume design), while the worldwide hit Bridgerton only earned nods in the Memorable Moment category and in craft for hair and makeup.
Disney+ earned a record haul of 15 nominations, behind Netflix (26), but ahead of AppleTV+ (13).
“From stories that got the nation talking, to courageous documentaries about conflict and real-life events, this year’s television nominations celebrate the exceptional creativity and craft of British and international television, and of the talented people who bring it to life on-and-off screen,” said BAFTA chair Sara Putt.
The BAFTA TV Craft awards will be held on Sunday, April 27 at The Brewery in London, while the BAFTA TV Awards will be held on Sunday, May 11 at London’s Royal Festival Hall (and also airing on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer), hosted by Alan Cumming.
