Hulu’s The Bear continues its awards run with the most Golden Globe nominations for any series this year; five, musical or comedy series and acting noms for Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Cólon-Zayas.
FX’s Shōgun and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building were next with four apiece.
The Globes have always been a place that recognizes first season shows sometimes a bit faster than its industry counterpart, The Emmys, and this year saw mentions for Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, Peacock’s The Day of the Jackal, Apple’s Presumed Innocent and Paramount+’s Landman, among others.
Limited Series nominees include Emmy winners Baby Reindeer, True Detective: Night Country and Ripley with Disclaimer and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, the latter two being eligible for next season’s Emmys (the Globes work on a calendar year). The hugely anticipated second season of Squid Game arrives later this month on Netflix but the series managed just a single nod, for Television Series – Drama.
14-time Golden Globe nominee and three-time winner Ted Danson is the Carol Burnett Award honoree. Danson earned his newest nomination this morning, for Netflix’s A Man on the Inside.
For the first time, the Golden Globes will host a separate event to honor the recipients of the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett Award winners at a gala dinner on Friday, January 3, two days before the main telecast. Also, the Globes is planning a luncheon to recognize first-time nominees, taking place later this month.
Comedian Nikki Glaser is set to host the 82nd Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 5, 2025 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/5:00-8:00 PM, live PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.
