We have Critics Choice and the Golden Globe screenplay nominations as well as European Film Award winner Emilia Pérez for December predictions. Not a lot of movement this month outside of Wicked: Part 1 becoming a top 10 contender.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) nominations come out much earlier this season after last year’s strike-driven extension, revealing on January 9, 2025, with several high-profile screenplays being ineligible like The Brutalist, The Substance, Conclave and Emilia Pérez, among others.
Academy Awards nominations will be announced January 17, 2025 and the 97th Oscars will be held on March 2.
