’20th Century Women’ to receive Centerpiece Spotlight at 39th Mill Valley Film Festival

20TH CENTURY WOMEN AS CENTERPIECE SPOTLIGHT
OCTOBER 13TH, 2016

SAN RAFAEL, CA (September 22, 2016) – The Mill Valley Film Festival is pleased to present Mike Mills’ 20TH CENTURY WOMEN as the Festival’s Centerpiece Ensemble Spotlight program.  Mills will be on hand for the screening at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center onThursday, October 13th alongside actress Annette Bening and actor Lucas Jade Zumann.

CENTERPIECE ENSEMBLE SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM
The MVFF CENTERPIECE ENSEMBLE SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM will feature an onstage conversation with the director and cast members of 20TH CENTURY WOMEN, a screening of the film, and the presentation of the MVFF Award. For the first time, the MVFF Award will be given in recognition of the incredible cast and their work as an ensemble under Mike Mills’ inspired direction.

In the not-quite halcyon days of late-’70s Santa Barbara, on the cusp of a new era in sexual politics, single mother Dorothea Fields (Annette Bening) enlists two younger women (Greta Gerwig, Elle Fanning) to help her raise her teenage son (Lucas Jade Zumann) in hopes that he will grow into a man who truly understands women.

Erik Anderson

Erik Anderson is the founder/owner and Editor-in-Chief of AwardsWatch and has always loved all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards since he was in single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Much later, he found himself in film school and the film forums of GoldDerby, and then migrated over to the former Oscarwatch (now AwardsDaily), before breaking off to create AwardsWatch in 2013. He is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic, accredited by the Cannes Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and more, is a member of the International Cinephile Society (ICS), The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics (GALECA), Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) and the International Press Academy.
