57th Grammy Awards Winners: Sam Smith’s Big Night and Beck Wins AOTY

Beck kept Beyoncé from achieving one of the only Grammys that’s been out of her grasp, Album of the Year, with his win tonight for Morning Phase. Don’t be too sad for Bey though, she still managed Grammy wins for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance (for “Drunk in Love,” with husband Jay-Z), pushing her into 20+ lifetime Grammys. Sam Smith was the night’s big winner though, taking home four trophies; for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album. Pharrell won two awards, for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Happy” and for Best Music Video, besting favorite Sia.

As usual, the Grammys gave us performances galore with some good, some great and some…not so great. Kanye confused and bemused. Pharrell milked the last bit of relevance of his Grammy-winning “Happy” as a sad bellboy, Katy Perry left us missing Left Shark but Miranda Lambert rocked the house, Annie Lennox reminded us why she’s a female legend in this business and Madonna brought it (if a bit slow on the uptake) with the debut of her new single, “Living for Love.”

Oh, and how awesome was Sia’s performance of “Chandelier” with Maddie Zeigler and KRISTEN WIIG???
