The 6th Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) creative arts and film awards were held this evening, where RRR won Best International Film and Best Action Film, Aftersun took home the award for Best First Feature, and Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio won the award for Animated Film. The night concluded with Best Picture going to Everything Everywhere All at Once, which also took home six other awards across the evening (Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cast Ensemble and Best Editing).

There was lots of love to give out tonight at the HCA Awards. Earlier, at the HCA Creative Arts Awards, Babylon took home awards for Best Score and Best Production Design. Top Gun: Maverick pulled out a win for Best Sound at the HCA Creative Arts Awards. Later in the evening at the HCA Film Awards, Sarah Polley won against some serious contenders in the Adapted Screenplay category. In the Documentary Film category, Good Night Oppy emerged victorious. Critics have been going wild for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On since it premiered last year, so it’s no surprise that the film took home the awards for Best Indie Film and Best Voice or Motion Capture Performance for its star, Jenny Slate. RRR not only took home the aforementioned awards for International Film and Action Film, but also managed to snag victories in the Best Stunts and Best Song (for the beloved “Naatu Naatu”). The Hollywood Critics Association also honored All Too Well: The Short Film with Best Short film. The HCA awarded Best Actor to Brendan Fraser (The Whale) and Best Actress to Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) as they got closer to closing the night.

The event, hosted by comedian Tig Notaro, was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and was live-streamed on the official HCA YouTube channel and HCA App. The ceremony was produced by DIGA Studios and Content.23 Media.

Among the handful of special awards and honorees for the evening were Angela Bassett, receiveing the HCA Acting Achievement Award, Rian Johnson with the HCA Filmmaking Achievement Award, and the cast and crew of RRR was presented with the HCA Spotlight Award. Gabriel LaBelle received the HCA Star on the Rise Award while The Fabelmans production designer Rick Carter earned the HCA Artisan Achievement Award.
